Northern soul is a music and dance movement that emerged in Northern England and the English Midlands in the late 1960s from the British mod scene, based on a particular style of black American soul music, especially from the mid-1960s, with a heavy beat and fast tempo (100 bpm and above) or American soul music from northern cities such as Detroit, Chicago, and others.

It could easily be argued that the most famous Northern Soul venue in the world was Wigan Casino.  At the heart of the Northern Soul scene for many years, with tens of thousands arriving year after year to dance the night away in the famous Empress Ballroom.

Today the Northern Soul scene is still very much alive with fans the world over.  No matter if you love the sounds of the 100 Club, The Wheel, The Torch, Wigan, or the Mecca, you're going to love this must-have piece of art created by Social Media sensation and artist Joe Charman.

Joe is renowned for his many many skills, yeh he's got skills.  He's also now a rising star on the art scene with his unique 80/90’s nostalgia and street art-inspired pieces.  With creative cues taken from artists such as Jean Michell BasquiatKeith Haring, and Andy Warhol,
